Foggin Tor
Tor Information
| Name: | Foggin Tor | Grid Reference: | SX566735 | ||
| Height: | 400 m | / | 1312 ft | ||
| Notes: | I couldn't find any sign of Foggin Tor itself which wasn't a surprise as I beleive it was probably consumed in the large quarry that can be found in that area. The stone mined at Foggintor was mainly used to build the town of Princetown & nearby Dartmoor Prison as well as being transported furher afield to Plymouth. The quarry ceased operation in the 1930s. | ||||
